Founder's Story

Survivors of Negativity (SON) was founded from both lived experience and a commitment to service.

Growing up during the height of the War on Drugs in the 1990s, my family was directly impacted by incarceration. My father, along with other members of my family, experienced incarceration, giving me firsthand insight into the challenges that justice-involved families often face. Those experiences inspired a lifelong commitment to helping others overcome adversity.

Today, I combine that perspective with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, a Master of Science in Psychology, and years of experience serving children, families, and communities in behavioral health.

I founded SON to ensure that young people and families affected by adversity have access to mentorship, opportunity, and hope—because a family’s past should never determine a person’s future.
